- Fact-checking trainings for journalists: These trainings aim to increase the resistance of journalists against disinformation.

- Facts before votes: Accurate information makes accurate decision-making: Young people are key actors in the information ecosystem in Turkey. In order to build resilience against disinformation prior to the upcoming elections, university youth with diverse backgrounds will be empowered with critical thinking and fact-checking skills, which in turn, allow them to meaningfully participate in and safeguard democracy.

- Empowering teachers with critical digital literacy skills: Teacher’s Network and Teyit worked with 39 teachers from 19 different cities, different branches, and various backgrounds for the first phase of the project. The project allows teachers to create and spread resources through a peer-to-peer approach. It allows them to learn fact-checking and critical thinking together and empower students.

- #teyitpedia: Our content format on our website called #teyitpedia, where we share the latest news about misinformation, false news, and fact-checking; prepare guides; and share tips on dealing with misinformation online. It aims to reach out to the Turkish-speaking community and it is an effort to expand the fact-checking and information ecosystem literature in Turkish. In addition to original articles, we regularly translate, adapt and localize educational content.

Teyit is using advertisement budget on social media time to time to amplify its educational contents which we called #teyitpedia in our own account and not allowing other people or account to boost for sponsorship. But our materials are free to use generally and everyone can use our contents when they reference to us.

However, we have a sponsorship standard that allows brands to sponsor our #teyitpedia content by keeping our content editorially independent. For example, we have published sponsored #teyitpedia content on our TikTok account recently. We have not get any other sponsorship yet. And we have specific principles on sponsorships and advertisements.

Best Practices

In addition to the required standards listed above, the Code identifies the following as a best practice that is encouraged but not required to join the EFCSN.

I. ELIGIBILITY TO APPLY In order to apply to the EFCSN, your fact-checking operation must first meet the criteria outlined in Chapter 5.2 of the Code.

3. Please list any activities besides fact-checking that your operation engages in.

4. What are the goals of your fact-checking operation over the coming year?

5. Please explain the geographical scope of your fact-checking operation and how you fit the Code’s requirement to “have a substantial and demonstrable focus on one or more of the countries of the Council of Europe, Kosovo or Belarus”.

6. Please attach a list of an average of four original fact-checks per month from the past year if this is your first time applying to the EFCSN or from the past two years if you are renewing your application.

3.3.A. Correct every known mistake promptly with a correction note in the same publication in which the error was made; if the error is only typographical, grammatical or stylistic, a correction note is not needed.

3.3.B. When the original publication in which the mistake was made is not editable, disseminate the correction in the same format and channel as the original so that as far as possible users of the original see the correction and the corrected version.
