- ‘Reviews’ (we call “Articles de Vérifications” in French) are verifying the veracity of prominent claims that are –or pretend to be– based on science,
- ‘Insight articles’ (we call “Éclairages” in French) investigate topics for which facts aren’t known with high confidence or address talking points (narratives) that can mislead their audience but aren’t necessarily false. We increasingly use this format for prebunking articles, as we see it as an effective way to inform our audiences and increase their resilience to misinformation.
- we led an investigation into how platforms (fail to) moderate the accounts of Russian propagandists that are under EU sanctions;
- we led an analysis of tweets that were identified as containing misinformation by European fact-checking organisations (as part of the European Election 24 Check project) finding that only few (~12%) of them displayed a Community Note showing the very limited potential of X/Twitter’s approach to combat misinformation;
- we led an investigation on whether web platforms respected the mandatory “electoral silence” ahead of the parliamentary election in France, showing that most platforms did not respond to reports of violation, likely placing them in violation of the law.

The selection of fact-checks below show that we review claims from individuals and groups from across the ideological spectrum, including claims that:
over-hype scientific results (see e.g. the ‘cancer-curing soap’’s claim #3, the claim that ‘climate change will wipe out agriculture’ #4, or the one alleging that ‘scientists have shown human breathing a significant contributor to climate change’ #10)- downplay known scientific facts (see e.g. #5 denying climate change results in melting Arctic sea ice, or #7 denying the human influence on the climate).
- correctly report scientific findings (e.g. #1)
- need additional context as they lack precision (e.g. #8) or the claim cannot be answered as it is poorly framed and we need to explain many facts that go beyond a single fact checked (e.g. #9 the claim that petrol cars are “better” for the environment than electric vehicles need to take into account the several ways by which each impact the environment)
Depending on the claim, the type of evidence we examine or the type of response we bring may differ, but these approaches are all rooted in our evidence-based methodology.

However, we do include the names and photos of the individual(s) who made the claim being fact-checked, if they are prominent individuals. These include politicians, celebrities, and individuals who have a significant online following numbering in the thousands like podcasters and social media influencers.
This is explained in point #8 here https://science.feedback.org/fr/normes-editoriales/

In our reviews that assess a claim associated with a particular scientific study for instance, we typically reach out to the study’s authors in order to obtain their views on whether the claim is accurate (see example here https://science.feedback.org/fr/review/etude-sur-rats-suggerant-lien-vaccins-covid19-autisme-presente-importantes-limites-ne-peut-etre-generalisee-humain/). In cases where there is ambiguity regarding how a claim should be interpreted, we reach out to the individual who made the claim in order to obtain a clarification (see example here https://science.feedback.org/fr/review/que-sait-on-vraiment-taux-letalite-mpox/ or here https://science.feedback.org/fr/review/ble-cacao-cafe-bieres-tomates-pas-disparaitre-changement-climatique-globalement-baisser-rendements-agriculture/). In cases where a claim is made without support but it might be reasonable to think that evidence does exist, we reach out to the claimant (see here for an example https://science.feedback.org/fr/review/renouvelables-limitent-fortement-rejets-gaz-a-effet-de-serre-meme-si-recours-energies-fossiles-parfois-necessaire-pendant-pics-consommation/ )
